First things first, Domain Names:                                                                                                   

You will need to buy a website address which is called domain name, you pay a yearly registration fee to keep using the name, and there are many companies that offer this service. You can search to see if the name you want is available (and register it) at the link below. This is a company that we recommend and use as they include with your domain name purchase certain useful functions that are needed for your website.

Before you jump ahead a few suggestions regarding names.

If you are a New Zealand based business and don’t plan on trading overseas .co.nz is best as it tells those looking at your website that you are from NZ and infers a level of trust.

If you are planning on having an international presence or you are from America a .com address is best. If you are a UK based business a .co.uk, and in Australia a .com.au would be most recommended.

It can be beneficial to buy more than one domain name e.g: .co.nz and .com (occasionally it can also be recommended to get two similar names if there is a chance that your business could be confused or easily mistyped eg www.recipe.co.nz and www.recipes.co.nz) both can be directed to the same website (you don't need 2 websites).

The Brochure Website: As its name suggests this is designed to be like an online brochure, it will contain 3 pages typically called the Home page, a product / testimonial page, and then an about us / contact us page. This is usually sufficient for most smaller business. It is a fairly static site just as it would be if you had a 1000 brochures printed, it is not an e-commerce site (it can’t collect money from your customers) For this site you provide to The BizAssist the content / wording and any photos you want to use and we will compile all of it into a user friendly web format. At no extra cost we will include a set of simple instructions on how to change text and upload photos for any future changes you may want to make.

3 Page Brochure Site Layout $299.00

The E-commerce Website option: I want to sell stuff and make money on the internet, comes with 5 pages and includes a Paypal shopping cart and up to 5 “by now or add to cart” buttons. Includes the setting up of a paypal account which is used like an online bank to “collect” your money. At no extra cost we will include a set of simple instructions on how to change text and upload photos.

If you select this option we will email you and ask what you want to achieve and then correct as many of the issues you identify as possible within the hour.           A word of caution, if the problem upon investigation is going to be very difficult to fix, any additional time needed over and above the first hour, will be discussed on a per client basis.

Website Content Help Options:

I don’t know what to write, can The BizAssist help? Yes but this can be a costly exercise for you as depending on your business it can be quite time consuming and remember that only you know your business inside and out and so can describe it better than anyone else.

Write My Content: $ 29.00 per hour. Includes subject research, writing the material and formatting for the web (and uploading to your site if required*).

Need an Email Address:                                                                                                                             

It looks more professional to have an email address that matches your website name. Each domain name ordered through the link on this page will come with one address which works on a forwarding system to an existing email address e.g: hotmail, but has the appearance of coming from your website, e.g: it looks like johnsmith@yourwebsite.co.nz

If you want several dedicated email accounts these should be obtained from the company you registered your domain name with, and are usually charged on a yearly subscription basis. This is recommended if you are going to have an E-commerce site.

A wee disclaimer:                                                                                                                                        

As has been mentioned before a lot of what we offer here at The BizAssist you could learn to do for yourself and designing a website is no exception. We use a free service to build and host the websites we format for you (hosting is the term for the company that gives your website a place to live on the internet) so essentially what you are paying for are our skills at formatting the layout of your information into pages for the web, uploading and correctly sizing your photos, setting up your e-commerce buttons etc and making sure everything is functional for you. This means we have to understand how the website building program works, some html coding (a common language of website pages), getting your domain names pointed to the correct site and numerous other technical things we don't want to confuse you with. It’s much like buying a piece of complex kit set furniture (or a kit set car) and instead of fumbling around for days or weeks getting frustrated until you might "fluke it" and get it right (or not!) instead you pay an expert to correctly assemble it, so you can just get on with using the item.
